for Venera
where cool Mediterranean waters
meet the sultry shores of Cagliari
palm trees sway in a sirocco
rows of bright pink palazzi
stand like elegant flamingos
perched upon their porticos
here two Sarnians reunite
over glasses of vino bianco
sharing their stories of Sardinia
Costa Brava
(The Wild Coast)
as salty sea
grows green
eddies whirl
up waves
against rugged
grey rocks
squalling
seagulls
summon
subconscious
songs
