Lyra

Catch her like a leaf into wind on shore
lifting to music of sea’s surging spray.
Find her pausing atop a verdant hill-
the Ionian Sea beyond, asway.

This tiny mountain town bears cliffs and rocks
as jaggedly magic as her village play.
The sea, a friend reigns constant in her view,
rolling quietly distant in a playful way.

Just steps away, there’s Govino Bay shimmering.
She follows lush Rope Valley Meadows down
beach side where sea terns longingly call out
leading her to golden sands. A crystal gown

of ocean sparkles beneath her time here wading.
A kind of singing treads her wistful mind.
She is a child driven by a mighty thrall.
Growing up on Corfu, what melodies shall she find?
